Tesla is preparing to build a $10.1 billion solar cell manufacturing facility in Fort Bend County, Texas, reportedly called Project Crystal Sun. Production is targeted for Q1 2029, with the factory expected to create 9,700+ permanent jobs while producing solar cells and modules for utility-scale, commercial, and distributed energy projects.
The project expands Tesla’s U.S. clean energy manufacturing and supports the growing demand for EVs, battery storage, AI infrastructure, and solar power.
