Tesla has been granted a patent for an “Electric Fan Car” using four battery-powered ducted fans to pull air from beneath the vehicle, creating downforce and increasing tire grip even at low speeds. Recent Roadster imagery has sparked speculation, but Tesla hasn’t confirmed the system for production.
Fan-generated downforce could provide performance benefits without relying solely on speed-dependent aerodynamic wings.
