A Tesla owner recently shared a real-world example of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) correctly recognizing and responding to a police officer directing traffic. Instead of relying only on traffic lights or lane markings, the system slowed down and followed the officer’s hand gestures through the intersection.
Handling temporary traffic control is an important step toward making driver-assistance systems more capable in unpredictable real-world situations while still requiring driver supervision.
We’ve all had that moment of wondering, “Does the officer mean me?” Turns out, FSD may be getting better at reading hand signals than some humans.
