Chinese auto magazine Autohome tested 67 electric vehicles in -25°C (-13°F) conditions, evaluating range, charging, efficiency, heating, braking, acceleration, and off-road performance. The XPeng P7 led range retention at 53.9%, while the Avatr 07 posted the fastest charging time 15 minutes from 30% to 80%. The Tesla Model Y retained 35% of its claimed range and took 35 minutes for the same charging session.
Extreme cold can significantly affect EV range and charging, making real-world winter testing valuable for buyers.
Summer range estimate: ‘You’ve got plenty.’ Winter range: ‘Let’s be friends with every charger along the route.’ ❄️
