Tesla is developing Full Self-Hearing, an AI system that detects manufacturing defects by listening for subtle sounds like rattles, squeaks, and assembly issues. The audio-based neural network is designed to work with cabin microphones and autonomous end-of-line driving to improve quality control and reduce manual inspections.

Catching defects earlier could improve vehicle quality, reduce production costs, and support Tesla’s push toward more automated manufacturing.
