Norway just dropped the most savage EV flex of 2026: In February, 98.01% of all new car registrations were pure electric. Yes, 98%. Gas and hybrids combined: barely 2%, probably just the tourists who got lost on their way to Sweden.
And who’s king again? Tesla, with 1,210 registrations and a fat 16.6% market share. They took January off (VAT rules made everyone panic-buy in December), then strolled back in February like: “Miss me? Thought so.”
Meanwhile the remaining 2% of buyers: “I just really like the smell of gasoline and crying at the pump.”
Norwegians out here living in 2035 while the rest of the world is still arguing about whether EVs are ready. Tesla didn’t even have to try hard — they just showed up and the market said “yes daddy, take the crown back.”
At this rate Norway will ban internal combustion engines by lunchtime next Tuesday. The last gas station attendant is already updating his LinkedIn to “former fossil fuel professional seeking opportunities in reindeer herding.”
Who’s booking a one-way ticket to Oslo just to feel what it’s like to live in the future?
