NHTSA just dropped the numbers and it’s not even close:

  • Tesla Model Y → 7.9% rollover risk (lowest ever recorded for any SUV)
  • Cybertruck → lowest rollover risk of any pickup truck ever tested

Both vehicles now officially hold the crown in their categories.

Why? Tesla’s skateboard platform puts the giant heavy battery flat on the floor, giving the car the lowest possible center of gravity. Traditional SUVs and trucks have their heavy engine and transmission sitting up high like a toddler on a sugar rush.

Result: ICE vehicles are physically fighting gravity. Teslas are using gravity as a loyal sidekick.

The best part? No amount of fancy engineering on the gas side can fix this. You can’t move a 600-pound engine block to the floor without turning the car into a science fair project.

So while other brands are busy adding fancy stability systems and praying, Tesla just sits there with physics doing 90% of the work.

Model Y owners right now: “Yeah, it looks like a toaster… but at least it won’t flip like one.”

Cybertruck owners: “Built like a tank, drives like it has magnets glued to the road.”

Moral of the story: Sometimes the safest vehicle isn’t the one with the most airbags. It’s the one where the heaviest part is literally as close to the ground as possible.
