The Wuling HongGuang MiniEV is the world’s best-selling mini electric car model of 2020, 2021 and 2022. Developed by GM – (SAIC – WULING) – a joint venture of three major automotive companies including General Motors (GM) of the US, SAIC Motor and Wuling Motors – the MiniEV boasts a compact and practical 3-door and 4-seat design. Its dimensions measure 2,917 x 1,493 x 1,621 (mm) respectively, with a wheelbase of 1,940 mn and a weight of 665 kg, making it easy to maneuver in urban settings.

The MiniEV is powered by an electric motor that has a battery capacity of 13.9 kWh and generates 27 horsepower with a maximum torque of 85 Nm. It can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h and can travel for up to 170 km before it needs to be recharged. The battery takes about nine hours to charge completely.

When launched in July 2020, the Wuling HongGuang MiniEV quickly gained popularity in the Chinese market. Customers can purchase it in four versions, namely Standard, Makaron, Gameboy and Convertible, ranging from 32,800 – 99,900 RMB (around 4,715 – 14,361 USD). It has achieved sales of 1.11 million vehicles, making it the most successful electric car in the world.

In the near future, the MiniEV will be manufactured at the TMT car factory in Van Lam district, Hung Yen province, with a capacity of 30,000 vehicles per year. It will officially receive orders and announce its selling price in the second quarter of 2023. With its practical design, solid performance and affordable prices, the Wuling HongGuang MiniEV is a force to be reckoned with in the world of electric cars.

Since its launch, the Wuling HongGuang MiniEV has become a “phenomenon” of the electric car world, surpassing even the Tesla like Model 3 or Model Y to become the world’s best-selling electric car.
